Rhinitis

Pollinosis, commonly known as hay fever, occurs when the immune system reacts to pollen and other allergens. In affected individuals, the nasal cavity and eyelid mucous membranes exhibit symptoms similar to those of typical rhinitis.

In people sensitive to these allergens, B lymphocytes produce IgE antibodies targeting these substances. Upon allergen exposure, these antibodies trigger the activation of mucosal cells, leading to the hallmark symptoms of allergic rhinitis. These symptoms include sneezing, nasal congestion, excessive mucus discharge, tearing, and itching of the eyelids.

This immune response, while designed to protect the body, can significantly impact daily life, highlighting the importance of effective management and prevention strategies.
